How To Make Microwave Popcorn (Without Buying Microwave Popcorn

Makes 5 to 10 cups popcorn

What You Need

Ingredients
1/4 to 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
Salt or other seasonings of choice (optional)

Equipment
Paper lunch bag (use an extra-large lunch bag if popping 1/2 cup kernels)
Microwave

Instructions

  1. Place the popcorn kernels in the bag: Depending on how much popcorn you need, you can use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of kernels.
  2. Fold the bag: Fold the top of the bag down three times, making sure to leave plenty of room inside the bag for the popped kernels.
  3. Microwave the bag: Microwave the bag on HIGH for 4 minutes. But stay close by — depending on the power of your microwave, the popcorn may be done in as little as 2 minutes. Listen carefully and stop the microwave when the popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops.
  4. Season the popcorn (optional): Pour the popcorn into a bowl and add salt or other seasonings, if you like.
  5. Save the bag: As long as the bag doesn’t have any holes or tears, you can reuse it for your next batch of microwave popcorn.

Recipe Notes

  • Spraying the popped popcorn with a little olive oil or coconut oil spray will help the salt or other seasonings stick to the kernels.

So, you know that artificial sweetener that soft drink companies are telling you is perfectly safe? Well, aspartame might be safe, but apparently some it is made with, um, a bacterial byproduct. And not even a natural byproduct, but, in some cases, a genetically modified bacteria byproduct.

Anyway, the patent for aspartame production, filed in 1981, is now available online, and it turns out that aspartame is made by feeding genetically modified E. coli bacteria, harvesting their protein waste (which contains the aspartic acid-phenylalanine amino acid segment aspartame is made from) and then adding methanol to the harvested proteins.

So think about that the next time you chug down your morning Big Gulp of diet soda

STAY AWAY from artificial sweeteners!

Your brain is neither fooled by nor pleased with artificial sweeteners

Your brain isn’t thrilled by your attempts to trick it with artificial sweeteners, and it’s making you want more sugar as punishment. At least, that’s what a new study from the Yale School of Medicine is suggesting, which scientists are hoping will explain why obesity rates have continued to rise even as artificial sweeteners have become more prevalent.

The theory is that your brain doesn’t release as much dopamine when it recognizes artificial sweetener, which is why aspartame and other sugar substitutes can actually make some people feel hungrier — your brain literally refuses to acknowledge that you’re full.

Study leader Ivan de Araujo told Nature World News that he hopes the findings will lead to a “happy medium” that involves “combining sweeteners with minimal amounts of sugar.” Our brains have to ruin everything, don’t they? LOL

Chicken Cheddar Parmesan!

Ingredients:

2 Eggs beaten

 5 oz. Dry bread crumbs  Dry italian bread crumbs

 5 Boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

 2 16 oz. jars of spaghetti sauce

 5 oz. shredded mozzerella cheddar cheese

 1/2 cup and 2 tbsp. parm. cheese (I used store brand 100% grated parm. cheese) not fresh parm.!

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking sheet.
  2. Pour eggs into a small shallow bowl. Place bread crumbs in a separate shallow bowl. Dip chicken into eggs, then into the bread crumbs. Place coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until no longer pink and juices run clear.
  3. Pour 1/2 of the spaghetti sauce into a 7×11 inch baking dish. Place chicken over sauce, and cover with remaining sauce. Sprinkle mozzarella cheddaeand Parmesan cheeses on top and return to the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
